Μια ζωντανή προσπάθεια καταγραφής της Ιστορίας του ΝΕΟΥ ΚΥΜΑΤΟΣ με τα Τραγούδια "ΤΟΥ ΝΕΟΥ ΚΥΜΑΤΟΣ", που ΕΓΡΑΨΑΝ ΤΗΝ ΙΣΤΟΡΙΑ ΤΟΥ και όχι μόνον ΝΕΟ ΚΥΜΑ-τικά τραγούδια αλλά και γενικά ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΟ ΤΡΑΓΟΥΔΙ και ορισμένα ΞΕΝΑ ΤΡΑΓΟΥΔΙΑ (εφ' όσον υπάρχει σ' αυτά και.....ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΟΣ ΔΑΚΤΥΛΟΣ!) με ΜΟΝΑΔΙΚΗ εξαίρεση τα ....γαβ γαβ τραγούδια!!! --> Επειδή υπάρχει από την Google περιορισμός, μέχρι 5,000 ετικέττες σε κάθε ΙΣΤΟΛΟΓΙΟ (blog), δημιουργούνται συνδέσεις για κάθε επιπλέον μέρος

Graham Nash played an important role in the early history of the Hollies, but after his departure in December 1968, the group achieved some of its greatest successes. After hearing Phil Everly's fine version of "The Air That I Breathe" written by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood, the Hollies recorded the definitive version, engineered by Alan Parsons. Released as a single in January 1974 on Polydor Records, it reached #2 in the UK. In the US it was released on the Epic label and achieved #6. It can be found on the CD on Best of the Hollies: Air That I Breathe and The Hollies' Greatest Hits on EMI. It clearly demonstrates that Allan Clarke was one of the best lead singers of the era. Terry Sylvester's background singing and Tony Hicks' guitar add to the great sound. This sound recording is administered by SME & EMI.

Here's one of the most romantic songs of the 70's, "The Air That I Breathe." It was first recorded in 1972 by Albert Hammond himself. From 1972 to mid 2000, this song was covered by more than 15 well-loved artists, such as Olivia Newton-John, the Everly Brothers, Barry Manilow, Julio Iglesias, K. D. Lang, the Mavericks, Simply Red, and more. However, the song was most well-known as a smash hit in 1974 for the English pop rock band, the Hollies. The Hollies' version reached the following charts and in the following positions:

This was written by the songwriting team of Albert Hammond (1944-) and Mike Hazlewood (1941 — 6 May 2001) shortly after they moved to Los Angeles. Before Hazlewood's death in 2001, they wrote songs for many artists, including Johnny Cash and Olivia Newton-John.

In a 1992 interview on BBC radio, Hammond said: "When you listen to the song, you'd think this is a show stopper, and lyrically, you'd think I wrote it probably for the most beautiful woman that ever existed in the world. And in fact, The air that I breathe was written for quite an ugly person actually, I mean ugly outside, physically outside. She wasn't a great looking girl, but she was a terrific person inside. She was warm and kind and... This person was the person who gave me shelter in Los Angeles, when I didn't have any place to stay. I had no money, I had no Green Card, I couldn't work, I could have been a homeless. I sat down with Mike Hazlewood, and I said "Mike, this is what's happened to me, and this is the person." And I think Mike came up with [the line] "the air that I breathe." More than my story, it was because we lived in LA, and for the first time in our lives, we were introduced by smog. And every time we woke up, we'd look at the Hollywood Hills, and there was like a yellow monster up there. And I think that was his reason for coming up with [the line] "the air that I breathe". My reason was a love story, his was ecology or whatever you want to call it, you know. But it worked."

Hammond was the first to record this - it appeared on his 1972 album It Never Rains In Southern California. Phil Everly recorded it in 1973 on his album Star Spangled Banner. Hammond Recorded a Spanish version in 1976 called "Necesito poder respirar."

In 1998, this was a UK #6 hit for Simply Red.

KD Lang recorded this on her 1997 covers album Drag. She did it as a slow Blues song.
