Santa Esmeralda was a U.S./French disco group formed in the 1970s, which spawned a club hit in 1977 with a cover version of the song "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". The group also scored a lesser hit with a disco version of "The House of the Rising Sun".Before "Saterday Night Fever" The Bee-Gees and "Thriller" from Michael Jackson, Santa Esmeralda staring Leroy Gomez broke the record of album sales with 15 million LPs sold within a few months. To date more than 25 million. "Santa Esmeralda "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is a No 1 Disco Hit in the world with 48 Gold albums and 42 platinum. "Generation", one of the song from "Another cha cha " album , released in 1979.

Mr. "Misunderstood" Leroy Gómez was born in Wareham, Massachusetts of Cape Verdean descent. Learning how to sing and play the saxophone, Gómez started his own band at 14, and later joined Tavares, a local group of brothers who shared his Cape Verdean heritage, and with whom he would go on to tour North America and Europe. In Paris, Elton John invited him to play sax on his classic album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.[1] Amidst this success, Gómez decided to leave Tavares and remain in Europe, getting work as a session player in Paris. There he met Nicolas Skorsky and Jean Manuel de Scarano, songwriters who had launched their own label with the aim of producing artists who would record their compositions. Santa Esmeralda was born of their collaboration, and the album Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, with Gómez on lead vocals, debuted on the independent French label, Fauves Puma. A sudden huge success in Europe, the record was picked up for worldwide distribution by Casablanca Records of Los Angeles, the preeminent label of the Disco era.

Santa Esmeralda was a U.S./French disco group formed in the 1970s, which spawned a club hit in 1977 with a cover version of the song "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". The group also scored a lesser hit with a disco version of "The House of the Rising Sun".Before "Saterday Night Fever" The Bee-Gees and "Thriller" from Michael Jackson, Santa Esmeralda staring Leroy Gomez broke the record of album sales with 15 million LPs sold within a few months. To date more than 25 million. "Santa Esmeralda "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is a No 1 Disco Hit in the world with 48 Gold albums and 42 platinum. "Generation", one of the song from "Another cha cha " album , released in 1979.

Santa Esmeralda is a U.S./French Disco group formed in the 1970s, which earned a #1 club hit in 1977 with a cover version of the song "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood".
Mr. "Misunderstood" Leroy Gómez was born in Wareham, Massachusetts of Cape Verdean descent. Learning how to sing and play the saxophone, Gómez started his own band at 14, and later joined Tavares, a local group of brothers who shared his Cape Verdean heritage, and with whom he would go on to tour North America and Europe. In Paris, Elton John invited him to play sax on his classic album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.[1] Amidst this success, Gómez decided to leave Tavares and remain in Europe, getting work as a session player in Paris. There he met Nicolas Skorsky and Jean Manuel de Scarano, songwriters who had launched their own label with the aim of producing artists who would record their compositions. Santa Esmeralda was born of their collaboration, and the album Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, with Gómez on lead vocals, debuted on the independent French label, Fauves Puma. A sudden huge success in Europe, the record was picked up for worldwide distribution by Casablanca Records of Los Angeles, the preeminent label of the Disco era.

Santa Esmeralda fue un grupo de música disco franco estadounidense. Fueron conocidos por sus remakes de éxitos disco de los años 1960 como Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood y House of the Rising Sun. El grupo incluía al cantante Leroy Gómez, desde 1977 hasta 1978 y el cantante Jimmy Goings de partir de 1978 hasta 1983, cuando el grupo se disolvió. Santa Esmeralda se formó en 1977 por los productores franceses Nicolas Skorsky y Jean Manuel de Scarano, compositores que habían lanzado su propio sello, con el objetivo de producir nuevos artistas.
