Xavier Cugat (1 January 1900 -- 27 October 1990) was a Catalan-American bandleader who spent his formative years in Havana, Cuba. A trained violinist and arranger, he was a key personality in the spread of Latin music in United States popular music. He was also a cartoonist and a successful businessman. In New York, his was the resident orchestra at the Waldorf-Astoria before and after World War II.
Several of the songs he recorded, including "Perfidia", were used in the Wong Kar-wai films Days of Being Wild and 2046. In 1943, "Brazil" was a big hit, reaching #17 in the Billboard Top 100.

LA PERFIDIA DE TU AMOR
Perfidia, un término no muy utilizado para darle nombre a una canción pero con un significado que sirvió de inspiración para muchas de las grandes composiciones de música popular de la época.
Alberto Domínguez Borrás fue un destacado compositor, arreglista, pianista y arquitecto autodidacta. Nació en Chiapas, México en 1911 y su nombre era respetado a nivel mundial como uno de los más importantes compositores de la música Latinoamericana. El tema más exitoso de su carrera es Perfidia, publicado por primera vez en 1939 y a partir de entonces interpretado por reconocidos artistas como Glenn Miller, Nat King Cole, Nana Mouskouri, Los Tres Caballeros, Javier Solis, Xavier Cugat o Louis Armstrong, entre otros. Glenn Miller nombró a Alberto Domínguez, el "musicalizador" de la segunda guerra mundial, ya que, según sus propias palabras: "cuando llegaba con mi espectáculo musical a los diferentes frentes que visitaba para distraer a los soldados, la canción que más solicitaban era Perfidia."

Perfidy, is a term not widely used to name a song but with a meaning that inspired many of the greatest popular compositions of the time.
Alberto Domínguez Borrás was a prominent songwriter, arranger, pianist and self-taught architect. He was born in Chiapas, Mexico in 1911 and was recognized as one of the most famous and respected composers of Latin American music. The most successful song of his career is Perfidia, which was first published in 1939 and thereafter recorded by renowned artists such as Glenn Miller, Nat King Cole, Nana Mouskouri, Los Tres Caballeros, Javier Solis, Xavier Cugat or Louis Armstrong, among others. Glenn Miller called Alberto Domínguez, the "Music Director" of World War II, because, in his words: "when it came to entertaining the troops with my music show, the most requested song was Perfidia."

Bruno Pallesi (Milano, 1º gennaio 1921 -- Milano, 7 giugno 1987) è stato un cantante, paroliere e produttore discografico italiano, famoso negli anni cinquanta.
Inizia la carriera di cantante in radio durante la seconda guerra mondiale, incidendo per La Voce del Padrone.
Partecipa al Festival di Sanremo 1955 in coppia con Nuccia Bongiovanni, classificandosi terzo con Canto nella valle.
Continua poi la carriera come paroliere, spesso in collaborazione con il musicista Walter Malgoni: tra le sue canzoni più note si possono citare Tua e Sabato sera.

Xavier Cugat (1 January 1900 -- 27 October 1990) was a Catalan-American bandleader who spent his formative years in Havana, Cuba. A trained violinist and arranger, he was a key personality in the spread of Latin music in United States popular music. He was also a cartoonist and a successful businessman. In New York, his was the resident orchestra at the Waldorf-Astoria before and after World War II.
Several of the songs he recorded, including "Perfidia", were used in the Wong Kar-wai films Days of Being Wild and 2046. In 1943, "Brazil" was a big hit, reaching #17 in the Billboard Top 100.

LA PERFIDIA DE TU AMOR
Perfidia, un término no muy utilizado para darle nombre a una canción pero con un significado que sirvió de inspiración para muchas de las grandes composiciones de música popular de la época.
Alberto Domínguez Borrás fue un destacado compositor, arreglista, pianista y arquitecto autodidacta. Nació en Chiapas, México en 1911 y su nombre era respetado a nivel mundial como uno de los más importantes compositores de la música Latinoamericana. El tema más exitoso de su carrera es Perfidia, publicado por primera vez en 1939 y a partir de entonces interpretado por reconocidos artistas como Glenn Miller, Nat King Cole, Nana Mouskouri, Los Tres Caballeros, Javier Solis, Xavier Cugat o Louis Armstrong, entre otros. Glenn Miller nombró a Alberto Domínguez, el "musicalizador" de la segunda guerra mundial, ya que, según sus propias palabras: "cuando llegaba con mi espectáculo musical a los diferentes frentes que visitaba para distraer a los soldados, la canción que más solicitaban era Perfidia."

Perfidy, is a term not widely used to name a song but with a meaning that inspired many of the greatest popular compositions of the time.
Alberto Domínguez Borrás was a prominent songwriter, arranger, pianist and self-taught architect. He was born in Chiapas, Mexico in 1911 and was recognized as one of the most famous and respected composers of Latin American music. The most successful song of his career is Perfidia, which was first published in 1939 and thereafter recorded by renowned artists such as Glenn Miller, Nat King Cole, Nana Mouskouri, Los Tres Caballeros, Javier Solis, Xavier Cugat or Louis Armstrong, among others. Glenn Miller called Alberto Domínguez, the "Music Director" of World War II, because, in his words: "when it came to entertaining the troops with my music show, the most requested song was Perfidia."

Bruno Pallesi (Milano, 1º gennaio 1921 -- Milano, 7 giugno 1987) è stato un cantante, paroliere e produttore discografico italiano, famoso negli anni cinquanta.
Inizia la carriera di cantante in radio durante la seconda guerra mondiale, incidendo per La Voce del Padrone.
Partecipa al Festival di Sanremo 1955 in coppia con Nuccia Bongiovanni, classificandosi terzo con Canto nella valle.
Continua poi la carriera come paroliere, spesso in collaborazione con il musicista Walter Malgoni: tra le sue canzoni più note si possono citare Tua e Sabato sera.
Oltre ad aver fondato le etichette musicali Polaris e New Polaris, è stato il patron del Festival di Sanremo 1975.
