I favolosi ROKES di Shel Shapiro si sciolgono nel 1970. Nel 1999 su consiglio dello stesso Shapiro, Nino Cocchini (chitarrista, cantante e compositore) riforma la band con il batterista Silvio Cocchini e i due membri della prima formazione Bob Posner e Mike Shepston, bassista e corista. Questa formazione durerà due anni, fino all'abbandono da parte dei due inglesi per motivi famigliari e logistici.
Intanto Nino ha acquisito il diritto ad utilizzare il nome ROKES, ceduto dallo stesso fondatore Shapiro, proprietario del nome e disinteressato all'utilizzo.
L'attuale formazione, Nino Cocchini alla chitarra e voce solista, Silvio Cocchini alla batteria, Mattias Stolzenfels al basso, si "arricchisce" sul palco di un quartetto d'archi (due violini, viola e violoncello) e di una flautista già collaboratori di Baglioni e Bocelli
